Three Links is a progressive health care provider for older adults in the Northfield area. Located just south of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, the campus includes Skilled Nursing, Respite Care, Memory Care, End of Life Care, Assisted Living, Independent Living, as well as home health services to the greater community.

Requirement: Must be a qualified Certified Activity professional or Recreational Therapist or eligible for certification as an Activity professional or as a Therapeutic Recreational or be a qualified Occupational Therapist or Occupational Therapist Assistant.  If the educational training or degree is not met, must possess two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last five years, one of which was full-time in a resident activities program in a health care setting, or successfully complete a training course approved by the state.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Life Enrichment is accountable to demonstrate and role model the mission, vision, values, and Four Cornerstones of the organization.  This position is responsible for the planning, coordination and implementation of the Activity Programs.

Adapts and embraces the organizational culture.  Demonstrates/encourages opportunities for carrying out the mission.  Promotes positive public relations by regular interaction, membership and/or communication that increases awareness and understanding of offered services.  Develops methods for effective utilization of community resources.  Interprets to residents, other staff members and the outside community the purpose and benefits of the activity program through educational presentations.  Seeks to learn and utilizes appropriate equipment and trends in technology.

Is collaborative and treats others with respect and dignity.  Develops and encourages cooperative relationships.  Actively listens to other points of view. Leadership Resource:

Your Responsibility as a Leader

Provides leadership which integrates, affirms and advances the organization’s mission, vision, values and Four Cornerstones.  Supervise and protects residents within activity programs.  Schedule and coordinate leisure independent and group activity programs to meet the variety of interests, the physical, mental, spiritual, and psychosocial needs of all residents, including ambulatory, non-ambulatory and room bound residents.  Directs the program of activities as printed and posted and assign program leadership to qualified individuals.  Works with the Volunteer Coordinator to establish an active volunteer program that includes the recruiting, screening, orientating, training, and supervising of volunteers.  Works with the Director of Marketing to submit information and photos for publication purposes. Demonstrates what is expected of others.  Available to meet with residents, responsible party, and staff as requested or necessary.  Participates in appointed leadership meetings, including designated committee meetings and resident care conferences.  Over sees monthly Resident Council meetings according to residents’ wishes and facility forms and procedures.   Follows through with promises and commitment.  Is honest and collaborative.  Inspires others by sharing the vision and the goals of the organization.  Assists with completion of surveys and reports as directed by Three Links administration.

Management of Financial Resources:

Your Responsibility to Financial Stewardship

Participates in the compliance with annual operational budgets; advises the supervisor of potential improvements and methods of improving operations.  Develops a method to implement programs within a designated operational budget.  Manages self and other’s time effectively and completes work assignments within reasonable and agreed-upon time frames.  Arrives to work on time and meetings and is ready to perform at appropriate levels. Respects break times as outlined by the employee Handbook.  Responsibly uses supplies and reduces waste wherever possible.

Management of Organization’s Resources:

Your Responsibility to Organizational Stewardship 

Understands and provides good stewardship of the organization’s resources.  Is aware of the organization’s strategic goals; assists in ways to ensure advancement is always the goal.  Maintains an adequate supply of materials to implement activity programs.  Communicates with supervisor any costs and bids prior to purchase.  Maintains physical plant and equipment. Promotes the organization to affirm a positive reputation.  

Management of Social Resources:

Your Responsibility to Leverage Relationships

Inspires positive internal and external relationships.  Inform residents, support staff and the Interdisciplinary team of the current schedule of planned activities.  Communicates regularly with supervisor to discuss programming, supplies and life enrichment events for the campus.

May lead team meetings and educational sessions and may be required to speak in front of groups. Is collaborative and handles conflict resolution timely and effectively.  Follows up thoroughly, consistently and holds self and others accountable.  

Management of Systems and Processes:

Your Responsibility to be a Manager.

Provides attention to day-to-day responsibilities.  Develops, maintains, and complies with the department’s policies and procedures and ensures compliance with federal and state regulations; provides policies as a resource and guide to staff.  Complete or oversee the completion of a comprehensive evaluation on each resident according to his/her background, past and present leisure interests, abilities, physical and mental limitations, and activity-related needs.   Participate and assist in the completion of the comprehensive interdisciplinary assessment and plan of care and in ongoing care plan review processes for all residents and oversee completion of comprehensive assessments and care plan reviews for all residents.   Completes or oversees the completion of timely progress notes specific to the residents’ activity plans, recording quarterly and annually in the medical record and more frequently when appropriate.  Maintains records of activities and files.  Develops and maintains appropriate records that indicate residents’ attendance and participation in the program with reference to resident response to the program.   Collaborates and integrates a person-centered care philosophy.
