Lutheran Life Communities is seeking a strategic, innovative, and inspiring leader to serve as President, Foundation. Located just northwest of Chicago in Arlington Heights, Illinois, the new President will arrive at an important time in the organization's history and will have the opportunity to strategically position the organization for future success.
Reporting to the CEO of Lutheran Life Communities, the President is the main fundraising leadership role serving the organization and its two supporting foundations: Lutheran Home and Services for the Aged and the Lutheran Life Communities Foundation. The two supporting foundations sustain and strengthen this mission. Together, they steward resources that ensure the vitality and long-term impact of Lutheran Life Ministries. As 501(c)(3) organizations, they provide philanthropic and financial support that empowers vibrant and grace-filled living for seniors. Collectively, the foundations manage total assets of $20 million, which include $5 million in unrestricted assets, $5 million in board-directed assets, and $10 million in restricted assets and endowments. These resources, coupled with continued generosity from donors, sustain operations and expand mission impact for years to come. Lutheran Life Communities has developed a legacy of always moving forward with intention, founded on the core value of their faith-based mission, while being inclusive of people of all faiths, backgrounds, and traditions. The two supporting foundations enhance this legacy and impact. The President, Foundation will provide strategic direction and operational leadership for all philanthropic initiatives, including major gifts, planned giving, annual campaigns, grants, and special projects. This individual will lead the revitalization of the foundation’s structure and strategy, aligning philanthropy with organizational priorities and community needs across four senior living communities in Illinois and Indiana.

The ideal candidate for Lutheran Life's next President, Foundation, will be a mission-driven, strategic leader with a proven track record in fundraising and organizational transformation. They should have a strong familiarity with the mechanics and strategic aspects of philanthropy and a proven track record of building a fundraising program. The President will be a visible ambassador and trusted partner who inspires generosity, strengthens community, and supports a bold vision for the future of aging services. An undergraduate degree is required, and a master’s degree is preferred. Candidates should have a minimum of ten years of progressive fundraising leadership experience, including major gifts, planned giving, annual campaigns, and donor stewardship.
