Organizational Overview:

LeadingAge Oklahoma is the statewide association of not-for-profit and other mission-directed organizations dedicated to advancing quality aging services in Oklahoma through advocacy, education and partnership. Together with our national partner, LeadingAge, we advance policies, promote practices and conduct research that supports, enables, and empowers people to live fully as they age. LeadingAge Oklahoma has approximately 105 members.

Requirements

Position Expectations:

This position serves, and reports to, the Board of Directors and leads the overall affairs of the association. This position is responsible for implementation of the strategic plan, financial oversight, policy analysis and advocacy, revenue development, and is the primary spokesperson for the association. The general responsibilities include:

  • Lead the association and its strategic development
  • Serve the LeadingAge OK Board and respond to their direction
  • Primary liaison with state agencies, related stakeholders, and the LeadingAge national organization
  • Seeks out appropriate partnerships with other nonprofit organizations align with LeadingAge OK mission and goals to leverage joint strengths
  • Direct staff and the associations operations
  • Provide analysis and advocacy on public policy whether in legislation, rule or agency policy, and lobbyist engagement
  • Engage with members in their recruitment; manage dues assessments
  • Provide oversight and direction on all association communications; develop and build consumer confidence and trust in member communities
  • Revenue development through educational offerings, sponsorships, and special programs
  • Direct and provide oversight to educational programming and the annual conference
  • Connects association members with best practices and innovations across the country, in order to raise the overall quality of aging services, advance research and support educational opportunities.
  • Establishes the LeadingAge OK brand as the premier state association in Oklahoma for all member types, including but not limited to home health, hospice, long term care services and supports, housing, and community-based services.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget, issue payroll, and provide financial management of revenues, expenses, taxes, audits and their reporting
  • Serves as the association’s spokesperson. Builds and maintains a positive public image for LeadingAge Oklahoma. Create media, from press releases to social media messages, which shape public and member opinion of LeadingAge OK and increases awareness of its mission.

Essential Requirements for Education and/or Experience

Education: An undergraduate degree is required; an advanced degree in a related field is preferred.

Position Experience: Minimum of five years of CEO experience or similar; five or more years of senior living support/service professional experience preferred, but not required, and/or similar experience with government affairs and advocacy.

  • Must have depth of professional senior leadership expertise.  Prefer knowledge of the senior living and health care services profession in its current and emerging forms, but passion to learn will be considered.
  • Must demonstrate leadership skills to assemble a high-performing staff, manage and motivate it effectively, and continually work to develop its growth/capabilities.
  • Must be skilled in collaboration with others and leveraging partnerships.
  • Must develop an annual budget and manage the Association’s activities and objectives within its financial means.
  • Strong skills in the following areas are desired:
    • Communication
    • Leadership and Consensus Building
    • Experience in the Field of Senior Housing, Healthcare and Supportive Services and/or
    • Experience in government affairs and advocacy
    • Strategic, Analytical Thinking and Results Oriented
    • Collaboration, Teamwork and Resourcefulness
    • Ethics and Transparency

Location: Candidate must live within a 50-mile radius of Oklahoma City or be willing to relocate to the Oklahoma City metro area.
