LifeStar is the exclusive professional services organization for Convivial Life, Inc., a Florida not-for-profit organization. This is an exciting time to join a fast-paced professional services organization within senior living as they focus on building a best-in-class portfolio of communities exclusively for Convivial Life, Inc., a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization (“Convivial”).

Convivial aspires to be one of the nation’s most recognized mission-driven organizations by using LifeStar’s expertise to offer vibrant senior living communities that promote an active lifestyle and opportunities to enjoy life at its fullest.  The Senior Vice President, Accounting Operations, in conjunction with the CEO of LifeStar, Convivial’s Board of Trustees, and other LifeStar executives, will be responsible for forming and advancing the financial and strategic goals of the organization.

The Senior Vice President, Accounting Operations will develop and lead a diverse team of skilled professionals in directing the ongoing accounting and annual audit requirements for the senior living communities managed by LifeStar that are primarily owned by Convivial. Job Description

The Senior Vice President, Accounting Operations, will directly supervise and be responsible for the ongoing accounting operations and financial reporting of the senior living communities managed by LifeStar, following guidelines and regulations set by regulatory agencies, and policies of LifeStar and acceptable to Convivial’s Board.

  • Direct the accounting operations, including treasury functions, general ledger activities, internal controls and budgeting, month-end reconciliations and presentation of financial statements and other key reports accurately and timely;
  • Ensure accurate and timely billing for each community, while monitoring receivables and collections on a timely basis;
  • Oversee the disbursement and accounting for all funds and timely payment of all vendors and obligations of each community;
  • Ensure Information Technology for accounting operations is developing and maintaining appropriate systems that support LifeStar's strategic growth and other objectives;
  • Complete not-for-profit accounting in accordance with GAAP and deliver financial reports monthly for review in comparison with approved annual budgets;
  • Prepare and submit all reports as required for regulatory bodies and compliance with lender and trustee covenants and obligations;
  • Establish and maintain acceptable and efficient methods for separate recordkeeping of each community managed by LifeStar;
  • Work effectively with the third-party auditor, tax preparer, or other consultant appointed by Convivial’s Board to prepare annual financial audits, 990 tax return(s), cost reports, and any other filings of reports and compliance documents for the Board’s approval;
  • Participate in the ongoing development of the strategic planning process and help monitor and report on the status of any assigned initiatives;
  • Attend Convivial’s Board and committee meetings, presenting materials for ongoing reporting, and working closely with the Senior Vice President, Financial Planning on matters to improve financial performance;
  • Participate in each community’s activities regularly, including but not limited to presenting at town hall meetings and attending various public relations events;
  • Maintain membership in professional organizations, and attend conferences, workshops, meetings to keep aware of trends and opportunities to advance programs and services;
  • Provide direct and indirect personnel leadership including timely orienting, training, evaluating, hiring, and any other type of personnel management activities needed; and
  • Ensure all accounting operations staff complete required training and receive personnel evaluations in a timely manner.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university required; Master’s Degree preferred;
  • Certified Public Accountant in Florida or credentials to achieve certification;
  • Minimum of eight years of management experience within an accounting operation for mid-to-large organization, with multi-site senior living properties a plus;
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite and Sage Intacct, with Point Click Care a plus;
  • Demonstrated analytical skills in financial statements and key ratios to manage the business plan and financial stewardship of an organization.
