Job Title: Special Assistant to the Chief Technology Officer– (affiliated with LeadingAge Summer Enrichment Program Internship)

Internship Description: The Summer Enrichment Program is a 10-week immersive internship hosted by Presbyterian Villages of Michigan, June - August 2023. We are recruiting a diverse pool of undergraduate and graduate students for a unique opportunity to obtain real-world experience in aging services. Read more details about the program. Intern will focus on creating new Training Content  for “on-boarding” new PVM Staff Employees as well as procedures to help Residents more effectively use their Smart Phones,  Tablets and Laptops.    Intern will be meeting with the Staff and Residents and may also  send out a questionnaire to solicit where they are requesting additional  training instruction. The second component of the Technology Intern is to learn and gain experience  in “Information Systems, Networks (Firewalls, security) , Personal Emergency Response Systems,  Door access  and security camera systems.

Organizational Description:

Presbyterian Villages of Michigan (PVM) will be celebrating its 78th anniversary in 2023 and has long been recognized as a premier provider of senior living and services. A non-profit, faith-based organization and recognized leader in the aging field, PVM has over 30 locations, which include affordable housing, independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care, and respite services, throughout Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. Recognized as an innovative leader, PVM was an early adopter of home and community based services.

What you need to know?

• A preceptor will provide guidance to the intern and meet with the intern weekly and as needed
• A summer project(s) will be assigned to the intern that will benefit the organization and culminate with a special project presentation to key leaders
• The intern will receive access to high-level executives and insight into the decision-making process within the organization. This will include the following:
  • A meeting with President/CEO and intern (virtual or otherwise)
  • Attendance/participation in department, staff, and board meetings
  • Mentoring opportunities with key leaders within the organization
• The intern will be provided access to a workspace and an employee orientation
• The intern and preceptor will attend virtual LeadingAge Summer Enrichment Program events, including:
  • Summer Enrichment Program - A networking event for Interns
  • Summer Enrichment Program - A networking event for Preceptors
• Formal performance feedback upon completion of the internship

• To shape, develop, and mentor a diverse workforce bound for leadership roles.
• To expose future talent to the field of aging
• To provide additional skills to prepare students to enter the job market, including presentations, and a performance evaluation to further enhance their experience.
• To provide a positive learning experience, including a final evaluation focusing on positive accomplishments and opportunities for growth. 

What type of student is qualified for the Internship?

• The ideal candidate will be a student who is pursuing a graduate degree in finance, engineering, architecture, business administration or project management.

What are we looking for?

• U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents
• Undergraduate or graduate student. Undergraduates must be entering their junior or senior year of undergraduate study in the Fall following the program
• A 3.0 minimum grade point average on a 4.0 scale
• Works effectively and diplomatically with various publics, including residents, board members, community groups, government agencies, etc.
