The Radiation Physicist has direct influence on the Diagnostic, Therapeutic, and Radiation Safety procedures used on patients. This professional implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates all aspects of radiation physics within the department as related to equipment, personnel, and patients. They will develop and direct quality assurance, perform radiation therapy, and radiographic procedures involving the application of X-rays and radioactive substances to patients. Additionally, this position requires performance on calibration and quality assurance procedures on linear accelerators, simulators, and high dose brachytherapy equipment. The ideal professional will also operate specialized X-ray equipment as prescribed by the physician, keep treatment records, prepare operational reports as required, perform clinical supervision with physician/dosimetry/Sim tech/nursing/radiation therapist and other disciplines to coordinate care, and provide patient and/or family with information relative to treatment plan, diagnostic/surgical procedures, disease process and home care.
