We are recruiting for a Director, Wound Care to join our Hospital Clinical Operations Department. This is a work from home position as it will require approximately 75% travel.
Provides support, guidance, and clinical expertise in the development, training and implementation of the Hospital Division's Wound Care Program. Serves as regional knowledge expert in wound care prevention, treatment, products and equipment.
Participates in planning and creating operational, service design and other organizational plans and policies to achieve the mission and vision of the hospital division wound care program. Ensures implementation of Kindred policies and procedures that guide and support the provision and integration of services according to mission and vision of the hospital division wound care program.
Assists and supports the Wound Care Program in assuring appropriate levels of Wound Care delivery to Kindred patients. Communicates and promotes the Wound Care Program's mission, vision, and operational plans to key clinical leadership.
Participates in hospital and departmental performance improvement activities to measure and assess the quality of services provided. Assesses needs, establishes updates and supports wound care prevention and treatment practices and systems as it relates to hospital populations.
Develops, assists and supports the Hospital Division implementation plan for wound care with focus on standardization. Facilitates development and implementation of standardized wound prevention and treatment protocols to improve patient outcomes, enhance patient safety, and reduce waste.
Provides educational programs, tools and processes for orientation, in-service training and continuing education to ensure qualified and competent staff to provide quality care and services. Develops and maintains Wound Care Program's Core Policies and Procedures manual and staff, patient and family education materials to assure safe, efficient and effective quality patient care.
Provides technical expertise and consultation regarding wound care prevention and treatment tools, protocols, methodologies and documentation. Participates in evaluation of wound care products and equipment for the Hospital Division value regarding quality and cost effectiveness and makes recommendations.
Facilities Hospital efforts to market the wound care program through outcomes and relationships with physicians
Implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote the Kindred's Wound Care Program at each hospital.
Responsible for oversight, support and ongoing audits of Kindred's wound care program and Wound Care Coordinator.
Serves as a clinical wound care resource nurse to WCC, nursing, respiratory therapy, nurse managers, infection control and hospital administration as needed.
Facilitate performance improvement activities that promote compliance with regulatory standards, best practice and NPUAP guidelines.
Monitors effective use of the Kindred advanced wound care formulary in hospitals. Provides feedback and methodology for hospitals as needed regarding use of non-formulary items.
Provides ongoing education to the hospitals within the region on Kindred wound care program, new clinical practices and regulatory standards as needed.
Ongoing monitoring of wound care documentation to assist hospitals with meeting regulatory and accrediting standards.
Expert knowledge of wound care prevention, treatment, products and services. Knowledge of compliance requirements regarding products and patient information.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of all patient and/or employee information to assure patient and/or employee rights are protected.
Approximate percent of time required to travel: 75%
Registered Nurse with Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred, in a healthcare or related field.
Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing (CWOCN). May consider similar specialist designation.
5+ years' progressively responsible experience in active wound care management; prefer experience in multi-hospital program or system management; Long Term Acute Care (LTAC) hospital experience a plus.
