Position Summary The Office is looking for Research Scientists/Senior Research Scientists to join their research efforts in the programme area of Learning Sciences & Innovation (LS&I).
LS&I seeks to expand and enhance the niche area of learning sciences and ICT integration to explore, reflect on and advance the educational goals of preparing learners to be future-ready.
We are interested in candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: • Learning sciences theory development and intervention design • Big data mining for educational context • Design and development of learning analytics • Meta-synthesis of innovative practices • Neuropsychology and cognitive science • Collaborative discourse analysis • Artificial intelligence • Other related areas
Candidates with appropriate qualifications and relevant research experience are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will work with a team of driven researchers with highly cited publications.
In addition, the Office provides Research Scientists with valuable research opportunities and the platform to enhance their global academic profile. The Office is dedicated to their interests by providing grant opportunities such as the Education Research Funding Programme (ERFP), a pool of research funds administered by the Office and supported by the Ministry of Education (MOE), Singapore.
Responsibilities for Research Scientists • Take a leading role in the further development of research programmes and in seeking and pursuing appropriate external funding; • Apply for and conduct quality research and work collaboratively to charge new directions for teacher, teaching, and learning research; • Disseminate the outcomes of the research including in peer-reviewed academic publications of international standing; • Participate fully in the wider research and service activities to OER/NIE; • Take responsibility for, manage and conduct administrative and management tasks associated with your programme of research
Responsibilities for Senior Research Scientists For Senior Research Scientists, additional responsibilities include: • Mentor junior faculty and research staff in CRPP; • Supervise students by research and/or dissertation (i.e. supervise M.A. / M.Sc. students and / or co-supervise Ed.D. students)
Requirements for Research Scientists • Ph.D. in a relevant discipline(i.e. learning sciences, big data mining, learning analytics, neuropsychology and cognitive science, collaborative discourse analysis, and related areas); • Minimum 3 years postdoctoral experience; • Experience in cutting edge teacher, teaching and learning research and addressing challenges in education; • Demonstrable track record in the following areas: (i) Research leadership in a research group or center, (ii) High quality publications i.e. quality and impact of academic publisher, citations and ranking of journal publications etc., (iii) Writing of or contribution towards research proposals which are submitted for peer-reviewed funding processes, (iv) Independence in research i.e. senior authorship/sole authorship of high-quality publications and invited presentations at conferences; • Attainment of funding through a competitive peer-reviewed process; • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and • Experience working with Government stakeholders
Requirements for Senior Research Scientists For Senior Research Scientists, additional requirements include: • Minimum 5 years postdoctoral experience; • Demonstrable track record in the following areas: (i) Research leadership in a research centre or in a large competitive, peer-reviewed research grant, (ii) Supervision of undergraduate and/or graduate students; • Experience engaging with diverse stakeholders including Government stakeholders, Community Organizations and the Public
