Under the administrative oversight of the Director of Assisted Living and Memory Support Services, the Resident Care Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the department. The incumbent will hire, train, supervise, evaluate the nursing staff and coordinate the nursing services of comprehensive care services that exceed federal, state and local statutes and regulations and promotes the highest standards of service delivery for our residents.
The Resident Care Manager will assist the Director of Assisted Living and Memory Support Services in the successful pursuit of the organization’s strategic mission. In addition to the normal and customary responsibilities and regulatory obligations of a Resident Care Manager, the incumbent is responsible for the achievement of the following specific goals and ongoing duties:
Complies with and continuously seeks to exceed federal, state, and local regulations and standards for operating an assisted living facility.
Serves as a primary liaison between residents, their families, staff and the general public.
Coordinates admission and orients new residents to the facility, ensuring satisfactory integration
Monitors and maintains records reflecting health and mental status of residents and reports any changes to the resident’s physician in a timely manner
Administers treatment and records resident’s response. Makes recommendations regarding medication to physician and works with pharmacy to assist with the appropriate handling, dispensing and destruction of medication
Ensures that all resident rights listed in the Resident Bill of Rights are honored and respected by all staff members
Executes infection control duties
Coordinates with dietary staff to ensure nutritional and therapeutic diets are served to residents
Investigates and documents any resident incident or issue
Coordinates resident discharges and transfers
Observes and may assist in direct resident care
Assists new staff and with ongoing training
Attends meetings and trainings as assigned
Oversees the department schedules to assure staff is trained and available for continuous care of residents. Evaluates the work performance of all nursing personnel.
Responsible to interview, hire, orient, train, develop, schedule, monitor, evaluate, counsel and discharge The Loft’s staff in consultation with the Director of Assisted Living and Memory Support Services and Director of Human Resources.
Maintains direct oversight of clinical and clerical staff and Nursing Supervisors. Conducts and oversees performance appraisals as required.
Supports systems for effective communication among all levels of staff. Provides consultation, counsel, and guidance to key personnel, e.g., supervisors, nurse managers, nursing staff.
Directs ongoing professional development and nursing program education for in-service and on-the-job training for staff related to the operations.
Develops quality relationships with staff across the continuum and strives to engage others that fosters teamwork and growth.
Demonstrates knowledge of application of key clinical quality indicators and proactively implement programs to achieve clinical outcomes that are at or better than National and State benchmarking thresholds.
Assures the highest regard in the maintenance of nursing records for clerical, educational, and administrative use.
Keeps informed of new developments in geriatric nursing professions and seeks to apply learning experiences to refine and introduce new quality programs and initiatives.
Seeks to facilitate and promote the nursing function with the overall Mission of Village On The Isle.
Performs additional projects as assigned for the benefit of the organization.
Licensed Florida RN, in good standing, with five years of experience in supervisory and administrative positions or equivalent experience.
Holds an Assisted Living Administrator’s License
Thorough knowledge of general and geriatric nursing.
Comprehensive knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures.
Understanding and capable to lead and promote the use of a Household Model in the delivery of services within a licensed assisted living facility.
Reasonable knowledge of administrative management in a Life Plan Community Setting.
Advanced computer skills required including experience with an electronic medical record, internet and web applications, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint and Excel.
