Description

SUMMARY

Reporting to the CFO, the Director of Accounting will be responsible for Monthly GL closing, GAAP compliant, Financial Statement preparation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

Budget

      1.   In conjunction with CFO assists in preparation of annual operational and capital budget.

      2.   Ensures final budget is properly reflected in financial systems and monitors actual financial performance compared to budget.

      3.   Monitors monthly budget variances by department and reports them to CFO.

4.   Works with VPs and department directors to improve future budget performance.

Financial Reporting

1.     Responsible for preparing monthly schedules, reviewing or preparing reconciliations, and documentation to support financial statement balances including preparing and posting journal entries for payroll, deferred revenue (SOP-90), cash/deposits, payables, fixed assets, etc.

2.     Responsible for ensuring the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers are in balance and support the financial statement balances, including Fixed Assets, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Deferred Revenue (SOP-90), etc.

3.     Prepares monthly financial statements including Balance Sheet, Statement of Operations, Changes in Net Assets, and Statement of Cash Flows.

4.     Assures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

5.     Primary contact with the external auditors in the preparation of the annual audit report.

6.     Works with the Controller who is responsible for the Business Office functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable/Billing, and the systems that support these functions assuring compliance with the highest standards of business practice.

Reimbursement and Regulatory Issues

1.     Assists CFO with financial reporting to regulatory bodies, bondholders and other interested parties as required by regulation or bond covenant.  Insures compliance with bond debt covenants as required.

2.     Supports CFO with the timely filing of the annual Medicare Cost Report and the supporting worksheets.

3.     Assists CFO with the preparation of the Five Year Forecast and any other financial data for the filing of the annual Disclosure Statement for the NC Department of Insurance.



Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have four or more years of experience in finance/accounting. Must have the ability to read, write, understand, and speak fluently and correctly in the English language. Must have the ability to translate complex concepts into a language that can be readily understood by people not versed in accounting, and business management. Must have the ability to embody the culture of The Sharon at SouthPark with its emphasis on stewardship, unity, purpose, excellence in service, respect, and beauty.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business (accounting degree strongly preferred). Experience should include GAAP, accounting software, strong Excel skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills. Preference given to Health Care or Hospitality Industry experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

CPA or Master's Degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance, strongly preferred.
