Company Profile
Horizon House
Company Overview
Horizon House has been an essential part of the fabric of downtown Seattle, Washington and the First Hill neighborhood since 1961. We are a non-profit, Life Plan Community, dedicated to supporting residents to live their best lives throughout all the stages of their retirement years.
We welcome people of all backgrounds, creeds, and beliefs. We welcome diversity with open arms. But our residents do have one thing in common: they have been—and continue to be—part of the beating heart of this beautiful, slightly offbeat, and richly textured city of Seattle we call home.
Company History
In 1958, members of the Washington North Idaho Conference of the United Church of Christ had a dream to
establish a retirement community to provide care and services for seniors living in Seattle and surrounding
areas as a ministry of the Church. Through the support of the church conference, this dream grew. On
December 15, 1960, a nonprofit corporation was formed and named "Horizon House."
You’ll notice the community vitality the moment you step through the doors of Horizon House. Our community hums with liveliness and activity. From civic engagement to arts and culture to philanthropy and caring, the involvement of our residents happens both inside and outside our walls.
Nowhere is this more apparent than among the 60+ committees originated and managed by the residents themselves. Organized under the umbrella of the Horizon House Residents’ Council. there is always a wide assortment of engaging lifestyle programs, thought-provoking events, and ongoing happenings within Horizon House.
